About Lien Doan Huong Viet
LIEN DOAN HUONG VIET, a Vietnamese Scouting unit, was established in Irvine, California in early 2005 to partner with parents in guiding and educating youth to become good children, good students, and useful citizens of society.
LIEN DOAN HUONG VIET is officially registered with both the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and Girl Scouts of the United States (GSUSA), operating under the general principles of the World Scouting movement: “fun and educational,” combining the updated programs of American Scouting with the moral traditions and discipline of Vietnamese Scouting.
Mission
To guide and educate Vietnamese youth in the United States to become good citizens with morals, discipline, and a spirit of community service, while preserving and promoting Vietnamese cultural traditions.
Vision
To build a generation of confident, responsible young Vietnamese Americans ready to contribute to society through the Scouting method of education.
History
Lien Doan Huong Viet was founded in early 2005 by a group of parents and Scout leaders in Irvine, California, with the desire to create a wholesome activity environment for Vietnamese youth.
From its early days with just a few dozen Scouts, the Troop has grown to 7 units with hundreds of Scouts, including:
- 2 Packs (Cub Scouts): Lac Long Pack and Au Co Pack
- 4 Troops (Scouts BSA): Tay Son, Dong Da, Chau Phong, and Me Linh
- 1 Crew (Venturing): Bach Viet
